At RFID Journal LIVE! 2013, we visited the Metalcraft booth and spoke with Julia Deets, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. We’ve spoken with Julia before in one of the first atlasRFIDstore G+ Hangouts. In that interview, we learned a little bit about the history of Metalcraft as well as their commitment to creating high quality RFID labeling solutions for their customers.
On the show floor, Julia showed us a new product debuting at the conference. Metalcraft’s new destructable windshield tag is designed to deteriorate if anyone tries to tamper with or remove the tag from it’s affixed surface. The tag shines in access control applications where security is the number one priority. Also, Metalcraft announced the ability to print on both sides of their labels. Previous RFID labels featured a random repeating background; however, new labels have the option of double-sided printing, so customers have the option of printing a barcode on both sides for instance.
Frequently asked questions from show attendees revolved around the topic of asset tracking, a key focus at Metalcraft. When asked to recommend an asset tracking tag, Julia likes to direct them toward the Universal UHF RFID Asset Tag. The tag is surface independent meaning it’s capable of very good read ranges while affixed to many different types of surfaces.
Metalcraft brought several other examples of their RFID tags and lables to the show including their rear-view mirror hangtag and their RFID folded tab tag.
