Michael Fein, Senior Product Manager RFID, walked us through the Zebra Technologies booth at RFID Journal LIVE! 2013.
Zebra debuted several new products including a new desktop UHF RFID printer with a smaller form factor. Zebra’s new printer, the ZD500R, is set to launch later this year. The slimmer size makes it more agile, which allows the printer to be used in a greater range of industries, particularly those that do not need a high volume tagging solution.
Next, Michael showed us the Zebra RP4T Mobile RFID Printer, which is ideal for retail environments and other mobile RFID applications. It pairs well with a mobile handheld RFID reader. For example, if you’re in a retail setting, you can read a returned item’s tag and print a new label on the spot.
At Zebra’s next display, we see two examples of their workhorse RFID printers – one set up to encode and cut cards, and the other configured to print directly onto Alien Wet Inlay UHF RFID tags. The solution behind the latter printer earned Zebra a Best in Show nomination. The Zebra Seamless Self-Serialization solution gives users the ability to manage and create a unique number for each item in addition to the static UPC.
