Ed Nabrotzky is usually the Executive Vice President of Sales for Omni-ID, but for at least a few minutes at RFID Journal LIVE! 2013, he played the part of gracious tour guide. The Omni-ID booth was nominated for both Best in Show and Coolest Demo, and Ed took us around the show floor to give us the full tour.
The Omni-ID Exo 210, a metal-mount RFID tag, was among the first products we saw at the booth. When embedded on a metal tool, the tool itself acts as an antenna and boosts the read range. Also, it can be embedded within tools as well as other metal surfaces.
Next, Ed showed us their Best in Show nominated Omni-ID IQ Tags – a low profile, printable label optimized for metal and liquid tagging.
Then, Omni-ID demonstrated their visual display RFID tags, winner of Best in Show at LIVE! 2012. These tags feature an e-ink display that changes when the RFID tags receive new information.
The visual display tags have the potential of drastically reducing the carbon footprint throughout supply chains, as well as improving worker efficiency and accuracy by displaying dynamic information – a huge win for industries that place a great deal of importance on reducing waste of all kinds.
