We recently attended RFID Journal LIVE! 2014 in Orlando, Florida. While at the show, we interviewed leaders, systems manufacturers, and solutions providers in the RFID industry. In this interview we spoke with Mike Crudele, President of Arcadian Inc.
Mike Crudele showed us a new Laird RFID antenna as well as the EZ family of mounting brackets.
The Laird PRL90209 is a little different than the industry standard RFID antenna usually seen on the market today. Instead of the typical 10in x 10in form factor, the Laird PRL90209 has a 10in x 20in form factor. So what have they done with that extra space? Well, the inventive people at Laird have integrated one left-hand polarized antenna and one right-hand polarized antenna into one antenna body. With two antennas in one form factor, these antennas operate as either two separate monostatic antennas or one bistatic antenna.
This antenna has a few other notable features like a high IP rating of 67, allowing it to be a great outdoor antenna, and a high gain of 9 Dbic. It is circularly polarized and has a beamwidth of 70°. If you are looking to use this antenna as a bistatic antenna, check out the Motorola FX9500 RFID Reader 4-port or 8-port option with bistatic antenna capabilities.
Mike demonstrated the three bracket options from the EZ family. Below are the three bracket options:
- EZ-P-4 – 4 inch, fully articulating arm, can hold up to 5 lbs.
- E-Z M-6 – 6 inch, fully articulating arm, can hold up to 5 lbs.
- E-Z M-9 -10 inch, fully articulating arm, can hold up to 10 lbs.
The EZ series all come with a wall bracket mount option and a combo bracket/mast mount option depending on what you are mounting them on. The EZ series not only holds the Laird S9028 antennas, but also has the ability to mount certain MTI, Motorola, and Impinj antennas as well.
